The goal is never enough.

Living life the best I can
But time keeps tripping me
Privileged now, yet all I trust
Is life’s uncertainty.

The more I learn
The less I know
I see the roads
But not where they go.

My plans that once seemed so clear
Have just been rearranged.
Drifting through the motions
Now that’s my specialty
I guess some things never change.

Turning on the T.V.
And I see what’s called the news
The formula's so goddamn stale
It should be called the blues.

Yet the more we see
The more we need

Where does it lead?

Will we reach a higher place
Or are we spinning round?
Is the problem solved, or in disguise
Perhaps just rearranged?

Better bombs and phones and cars
But nothing comes for free
Some things never change.

Running down those mysteries

And searching farther out
Even if the answer’s found
There’s often room for doubt.
